Amy Dentata: The Difference Between Dysphoria and... →
I read this a while back and though it would be good to add to the little dysphoria conversation we’ve been having here on my little o’l tumblr. I think this is a good addition as it raises some really interesting thoughts on the subject.

Anonymous asked: So seeing as dysphoria is used a lot in the trans* community for when individuals are hurting from not being seen socially as we'd like or not having our bodies look or function how we'd like, are you against this usage of the word? I've always seen it as a way for trans* people to articulate our pain, as we feel it, not as a medical professional interprets it.
just overheard a guy on the street talking about a date: “OK, yo, well let me ask you this: Are you comfortable in this realm or do I need to abort mission?”

Computer Game "Dis4ia" Tells a Trans* Story →
I find this super interesting. It’s no secret I’m avidly opposed to pathologizing trans* difference, so I’m not generally into things relating to “dysphoria” but the game is presented as an individual’s story and that makes all the difference. Looks like a great artistic project in a medium lots of folks don’t think about.
I love the smell of the Ohio countryside at night.
headed to Miami University to do a talk about gender performance tonight. Hey there, Ohio road!

sqs-tec asked: Hi there! I'm an organizer for SQS, a Chicago based trans* empowerment collective. We're putting together a program for self defense for the trans* community. Do you have any quick advice concerning self defense and community inclusion/protection within the trans* community? I don't mean to trouble you, I would be most appreciative to hear your thoughts. I respect the work you...

delineatingkaj asked: So, I'm taking a psychopathology class and we're going to be studying GID in a few weeks. Obviously, as a trans* person I'm a little concerned that the material be covered in a competent (and ideally not cissexist) way. I've been considering going to my professor's office hours and asking her how she's going to be presenting it; what do you think? Halp?

“Virginia Republican caucus chairman Ryan McDougle has proven himself a fearless, uterusless supporter of Getting all up in The Commonwealth’s Ladybusiness. He backed the state’s now-tabled Personhood bill and stood behind the law that will force women seeking abortions to receive medically unnecessary ultrasounds. And...

Had a very promising meeting about improving trans and queer communities relationships with the city’s police. I even ran into my old fav professor from back in the day. Woot activism.
Headed downtown for a LGBTQ issues forum with the Cincinnati Police Department. Looking forward to a stimulating conversation!
